Places to Visit
There are several local sites of historic interest and natural beauty to visit in Lochalsh, Kintail, Skye, Lochcarron, Applecross, and further afield in Loch Ness, the great Glen area and Torridon. This includes a number of castles – Eilean Donan, Armadale, Dunvegan, Urquhart to name a few - and also the Iron Age Brochs at Glenelg. The cottage is 8 miles from the picturesque village of Plockton and 10 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh with its facilities (supermarket, bank, leisure centre, tourist centre) and the Skye bridge. Other local amenties include art & crafts shops/galleries nearby. Nearby beaches are at Glenelg, Broadford and coral beaches near Plockton. There are several boat trips - glass bottom boat at Kyle, seal trips from Plockton and a trip to Loch Coruisk at the foot of the Cullins, to name a few. There are a number of outdoor centres in Kintail, Skye and Rassay which offer Kayaking.
